Maya Matthews-Sterling : Owner / Office Manager
Maya is co-founder of Caribbean Solar Company, where she oversees office administration, development, strategic initiatives and marketing.

Maya brings valuable experience from her prior role as Development Manager at The Policy & Research Group. There she was responsible for project development, which includes the development and fostering of relationships with funding agencies, clients, and partners. In this role she identified prospective clients and opportunities and managed the preparation of all proposals.

Kevin Schnell: Owner / Operator
Before starting, Caribbean Solar Company, Kevin spent seven years as a self-employed subcontractor in the roofing industry. Kevin’s experience with solar systems includes formal training with GAF Solar and DOW Solar. Additionally, he has completed “PV system design and installation for both grid-tied and off-grid projects” courses at Imagine Solar, a Texas-based solar training school.

Kelly Lawson

Kelly comes to us from Austin, Texas. Having lived on St. John for several years in the early 2000s she moved back to her hometown to pursue a BS in Environmental and Natural Resource Mgmt. from Texas State University. After graduation, she spent the next several years working in Austin’s progressive recycling industry. In 2017, Kelly moved back to St. John to pursue her dream of combining island life and environmental work.

Raquel Escarcega

Raquel graduated from the University of Arizona in 2013 with a BS in Engineering and a minor in Biosystems Engineering. After graduation she volunteered for Project C.U.R.E in Phoenix, Arizona testing and repairing donated biomedical equipment for health care centers in developing countries.
